NWU Self-Directed Learning Series: Volume 4
This short video provides an overview of the 12 chapters in “Becoming a teacher: Research on the work-integrated learning of student teachers”. These empirical research book chapters explore various angles to pre-service teacher education, and how the so-called “theory-practice divide” can be addressed. Amongst others, the book focuses on the establishment of teaching schools, face-to-face interventions such as student teacher excursions, as well as the utilization of virtual simulation platforms in teacher education.
The work is devoted to scholarship in the field of pre-service teacher education. The target audience comprises scholars working in the fields of pre-service teacher education, work-integrated learning, and self-directed learning.
