Opening Eyes Series. Volume 1
Whether you are a theorist, practitioner, scholar or simply interested in the field of visual impairment, you may benefit from this publication. In this presentation, Ronél Ferreira, on behalf of her co-editor Maximus Monaheng Sefotho and herself, introduces Opening Eyes Volume 1: Understanding education for the visually impaired. As part of a series, this first volume focuses on general support provision to learners with visual impairment, against the background of inclusive education and equal opportunities to all learners, thereby paving the way for related topics that are included in the subsequent volumes of the Opening Eyes series.
The ultimate aim with this compilation of work is improved levels of support to and the inclusion of learners with visual impairment in society. As such this presentation and your subsequent reading of the publication may add insight to your understanding of the phenomenon of visual impairment, allowing you to be able to make a difference in the lives of such learners and opening their and others’ eyes to the possibilities of optimal functioning despite their disability.
